My background spans both academia and industry, with experience in immuno-oncology, primary cell culture and functional assays. After completing an MRes in Cancer Biology at Imperial College London in 2020, I became interested in how the immune system can be harnessed to develop more effective and personalised cancer treatments. I began my career at Adaptate Biotherapeutics (later acquired by Takeda Pharmaceuticals), working on novel antibodies that target cancer through modulation of Vδ1 gamma delta (γδ) T cells. In 2024, I was inspired to begin a PhD in Professor Bruno Silva-Santos’s laboratory at the Gulbenkian Institute of Molecular Medicine where my current research focuses on γδ T cells and the mechanisms they use to recognise and kill tumour cells. As a visiting scholar in the McMannus Laboratory, I am leveraging their expertise in large-scale CRISPR Cas9 screening to advance this research. In my spare time I like to travel, try new restaurants and cafes (sweet treats), read and keep active.
