I graduated from Dominican University of California in May 2019 with a Bachelor in Science in Biological Sciences with a Spanish minor. There, I worked in several labs with the following disciplines: Molecular Biology, Ecology, and Marine Biology. I even had the opportunity to live and study in Spain for the summer of 2017.
In the lab, I work primarily under the supervision of Dr. Gabriel Eades. My research relates to the application of groundbreaking CRISPR technology in living systems in vivo. The first project I work on centers around using nuclease-active Cas9 and unpublished CRISPR arrays technologies to study genetic interactions between the genes that cause cancer also referred to as driver genes. The second project I work on in the McManus lab involves the creation of CRISPR interference (CRISPRi) GEM models.
I aspire to become a physician-scientist. I hope to be accepted to an MD/PhD program in the near future. When I'm not in a white lab coat, I enjoy consuming everything that Hulu and Netflix have to offer. Not only that, I am a huge foodie and love cooking. I enjoy long walks down the aisle of Costco. Furthermore, I am a huge anime fan so if you have seen Naruto, Bleach, FairyTail, etc. then we will get along just fine.
