Born and raised in the northshore suburbs of Chicago, I stayed close to home to do my undergraduate studies at the University of Chicago where I majored in biology and minored in Spanish. Inspired by the pharmacogneomic research I had done in the Huang lab as an undergrad, I chose to apply and enroll in the PSPG PhD program at UCSF. Although I've grown up mostly in Chicago, I've lived a few years in Seoul and spend the past few summers in Italy, China, and Japan. When not in lab or class, you can probably catch me reading at a coffee shop in the Inner Sunset or feasting on oysters in the Mission.
