Ayumi Stohr, other

I was born and raised in San Francisco and am a rising senior at Lowell High School. My interest in science grew through my classes, particularly biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, and environmental science. Although I am unsure of the specific field I want to pursue, I plan to major in the biological sciences in college. In the McManus Lab, I am working on building and validating a biotin-barcoded plasmid recovery system using streptavidin beads and nanopore sequencing to study DNA methylation. Outside of academics, I enjoy club soccer, running with my cross country and track teams, and spending time outdoors.
