As a graduate student in Dr. Rekha Patel's lab at the University of South Carolina, I studied the role of 3 dsRNA-binding proteins, PACT, PKR and TRBP in modulating the cellular response to stress. After a short postdoctoral appointment in Dr. Sofia Lizarraga's lab (also at USC) where we used hESC-derived cortical neurons and microglia as models to understand how defective chromatin modifications and inflammation affect neuronal development, I moved on to Dr. Maria Hatzoglou's lab at CWRU. The focus of my studies in this lab are to understand the molecular underpinnings behind the cellular response to stress. When I am not at the bench, I enjoy cooking and K-dramas!
