Bio:
Nikki Shariat obtained her BSc from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK and her Ph.D from the Dept of Biological Sciences at Vanderbilt University. Her thesis research was in the lab of Jim Patton where her project focused on the mechanisms of splicing in the Growth Hormone gene and the development of RNAi approaches to alleviate Isolated Growth Hormone Deficiency type II in mice. When not in lab, Nikki enjoys photography, trekking and watching the Titans.

My Project:
Nikki is currently using microRNA and shRNA libraries to dissect the roles of microRNAs in embryonic stem cells. She is also interested in understanding the regulation of specific microRNAs.
